Church Wide Projects

Our church wide outreach projects are designed to provide kids, youth and adults the opportunity to serve those in our community who need a little help. There are two goals of the church wide projects. First, we encourage 100% participation. When we engage at this level, we demonstrate to the community around us that we are here to serve them. Second, we desire to build ongoing partnerships with organizations that specifically serve those within Marin County. Some of these are Christian ministries and others are secular. All are extremely well run and do work that Jesus would be proud of them doing.

In the past couple of years we have served at the Gilead House, delivered meals for Meals of Marin and donated school supplies for the Canal Alliance. Below are descriptions, stories and pictures from a couple of things we have done.

If you have questions about any of our church wide outreach projects, please contact Eric.

Meals of Marin

On Sunday March 5, 2006 BayMarin came together to serve meals alongside Meals of Marin. This organization provides meals for people in Marin County who are living with life–threatening illnesses. We were able to come alongside Meals of Marin and collect food from the Farmer's Market, cook and prepare meals and deliver meals. Additionally, our youth went to Cedars of Marin, a home for developmentally disabled adults, to hang out and play with the residents. Finally, the kids made placemats and other things for the children of people who are served by Meals of Marin.

It was a great time of us coming together to serve our community as more than 100 people engaged in this outreach project. As a church, our goal is to develop ongoing relationships with the organizations we serve. If you are interested in finding out more about Meals of Marin or how you can serve with them, please contact Eric Nyberg who can connect you with Meals of Marin's volunteer coordinator.

Canal Alliance

Canal Alliance is a community-based organization that prepares people to participate fully in economic, educational and political systems, and to be leaders, so that Marin may benefit from its diversity and be a more equitable county. One of the tbings that the Canal Alliance does is to provide tutoring and after-school programs for children living in the Canal neighborhood in San Rafael, CA. Many of these students are unable to get basic school supplies and without them cannot participate in school and after-school activities.

As part of our Sunday morning gathering, we were able to purchase, assemble and donate more than 100 binders to students who really need them. It was a great time of doing something small that will have great impact on the lives of these kids.
