Our Faith Communities have made it a priority, as part of their spiritual development, to plan and participate in at least one outreach or service project together as a group each year. We believe that a large part of us growing into the people God wants us to be centers around what we do for others when we have no expectation of reward or return.
These projects have proven to be immensely valuable for both the people we are serving, but also for those with our faith communities. In the past, we have done "Kingdom Assignments" where groups have been given seed money and asked to execute a service project. One group continued ongoing ministry efforts in India by matching the seed money given to them. Another group printed and sold T-shirts with the profits going towards the Gilead House, a transitional home for battered or abused women.
In another project, three groups pooled their financial and human resources and put on a benefit concert for the Phoenix Academy. All of the musicians were from our faith communities and the evening turned into a huge success.
Finally, a group put together a pancake breakfast with the proceeds going to the family of a local Marin man who was paralyzed in a ski accident. Many people showed up and the family was touched by the outpouring of support from those within our church family.
