At BayMarin, we believe that God has called those who are members of our church family to give of our financial resources in a significant manner. The Old Testament tithe of 10%, taught in Malachi 3:10, is not specifically taught in the New Testament. This does not mean that the principle does not apply in our culture today however. Instead of seeing the tithe as a set percentage, we believe that God desires for us to give sacrificially of all our resources, including money, to help fulfill the mission he has called us to in Marin County and the world. When we give of our resources, we demonstrate our faith that God will provide all that we need and we show what we value most.
If the tithe is not a command for us to obey in our giving, how is it that people should decide what it is that God would have them do with their money, time and abilities? We believe that when you thoughtfully and prayerfully contemplate the issue, God will provide you the answers you seek. Some people who have significant resources will live as Jesus wants if they give more than 10% of their resources, while others who have less might actually be not doing what Jesus wants if they give 10%. This is why prayer is such an important aspect of our financial lives.

There are so many places out there where you can give your money - many of which are outstanding organizations. We realize that you have a choice in what you give to and we feel that the local church is the very best of those options. This does not diminish the great things other organizations do, nor does it imply that we are in any way better than those organizations. It simply means that we are striving to be the most attractive and best place for you to invest your resources.

The staff and overseers of BayMarin Community Church understand that you entrust us to manage the resources provided to us according to biblical stewardship. We are continually trying to find the most effective and best use of the resources available and strive to be transparent to that end. Copies of the current fiscal year's budget are available from the office, along with the corresponding ministry plan that details each ministry area's highlights from the previous year, and goals and objectives for the current year.
Additionally, we believe that it is necessary to manage our own personal resources as the Bible teaches. As we avoid consumer debt, save for the future and carefully consider how we spend our money, we are showing God the honor he deserves. In order to help you manage your resources in a biblical way, we regularly offer courses and seminars to meet those needs.
Finally, as good stewards, we are responsible for becoming a light in the middle of a consumer driven culture. Acquisition of goods for the sake of acquisition goes against the teachings of the Bible and moves us away from being people who can be a blessing to others. We encourage those who call BayMarin their church family to look at the way they view their money and to search for ways that they might provide hope to others, both within our family and without.

We currently can accept cash, checks, stock or bond donations or automatic bank transfers. If you have questions about the financial life at BayMarin, please contact the office and you will be directed to the proper person. To set up a recurring gift from your checking account, contact the church office at info@baymarin.org to ask for an Electronic Funds Transfer form which you can then fill out and return the office.
