Just like the "200 series" courses in school go a little deeper than
the "100 series" courses, this series is designed to help us go a level deeper than we've ever gone in unpacking stories from the book of Acts. We'll also be implementing some new practices to help us "Act" out community -- starting this Sunday with weekly communion during our gatherings.

Everyone knows the stories of Genesis; they are a part of our cultural DNA. The heroes of the book represent some of the most treasured stories of our culture. But do we REALLY know these people? It seems that most of these "heroes" were pretty messed up –– just like you and me. Come join us for a new trip through an old book –– where you just might find yourself.

Maybe you don’t know "the secret" – and maybe you haven’t found "your best life now." Maybe you’re just normal. Maybe you’re tired of the hype. You know that there is no one–hit–wonder that will solve everything. And maybe all the hype is even making you wonder if anything is really true. Maybe you’re ready for Christianity for The Rest of Us.
Christmas and music: They just go together. This advent, come and join us for a unique celebration of the season as our incredible musicians lead us through a different musical genre each week. And as we do so, we’ll take a look inside some of the most beloved songs of season – sort of a "behind the music" with a bonus: We’ll see how these songs communicate beauty and truth in ways most of us have never noticed.
People connected in a disconnected world. Bound together in a commitment to each other, and to a mission bigger than all of them. An alternative community in a world of conformity. This is "the tribe." Throughout history, God has called out to those who would respond to Him––who yearn for something beyond the ordinary. People who want to BE the church. For BayMarin, the arc of the story reaches from thousands of years ago, down to 20 years ago, all the way to today. come join us to celebrate a unique milestone, and to explore what God has in store next… Find your place in the tribe.
We know we should do it. Somewhere in the back of our head, a little voice keeps telling us that we need to become more aware. That there are things we can do. That if we change our own "footprint" it really will make a difference. That this is something that is important to God. But where do we start? Come join us for a new look at an issue that is defining our culture and should engage our faith.

What is a hero? In this summer of Spider Man, Captain Jack and the Silver Surfer, there are lots of heroes to choose from – in our imagination. But what about in real life? Surveys show that we don’t really have heroes anymore. We’ve become too jaded to believe real heroes actually exist. Come join us as we take a look the stories of some people who were defined by their character, not their celebrity. Perhaps in the stories of how they wrestled with their circumstances, and yet still responded to God, you can find some inner strength. Maybe you’ll be challenged to become a real hero yourself.

What is "good"? We answer that question one way in our “regular” lives, and another way if we are in church. In "real life" goodness can be any number of things – friends, babies, a good meal, a good wine, a good book. But in church, somehow, the definition gets narrowed. "Good" somehow means something different in church than it does in real life. Is that the way Jesus actually meant it to be? Join us as we walk through the second half of Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount. Find out what he himself believed about goodness. Maybe you’ll be surprised.

What is real life? In the cleaned up words of the popular bumper sticker, we often define "real" life as the fact that "stuff happens." "Get real," we say. As a result, much of what Jesus had to say about "going the extra mile" or "turning the other cheek" seems more like platitudes than reality. Honestly, can anyone really live without worry? Or not be angry? Or love their enemies? So –– was Jesus a pipe-dreamer, or a subversive realist? Join us for a verse-by-verse journey through how Jesus really pictured life. Getting real may surprise you.
With the chaos, war, injustice, pain and frustration that we see in the world – and in ourselves – we begin to wonder if we will ever know peace. We sense that something is not right, yet we don't know how to go about changing things to a better way. The questions creep into your mind and the notion of peace seems too far away – something that you or I cannot have.
We've all experienced it. It’s the question that comes to you in the middle of the night –– or the middle of a busy day. When the world seems too fast –– or too slow. You start to wonder about your purpose. You start to explore something more: A calling.
Questions. All of us have them. Especially as they relate to faith. Often they come out in the unguarded moments of conversation that happen between friends. In this unique series, we gathered the questions and wonderings that you experience in your everyday conversations, and used some of the most prevalent of them as the basis for what we talked about.

As children we all learned them. Words that showed us how we play and interact with others. Words that helped express feelings. Words that sometimes we didn't want to learn. They are words that have deeper meanings that what you see on the surface.
What is all the fuss about the Bible? Is it a good book? An accurate book? A book full of myths? A book full of good moral stories? A book of “the living word?’’ God’s words? Man’s words? A weapon of mass reduction?
Three messages that culminated in the commitment of 11 people being baptized June 11th.

From "The Da Vinci Code" to Green Day's "Jesus of Suburbia," popular media is filled with themes that are universally human, and uniquely divine. The stories that engross us through the big screen, the small screen, and the even smaller screen with the earbuds, do so because they represent the yearnings of our hearts.
Our Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday messages.
All living things grow. As people, the desire for growth is hard-wired into us. And while most of us can identify ways to grow more physically healthy or more intellectually sharp, few of us can identify clear steps to growing our souls. But far from being a "fuzzy" process, clear steps to spiritual growth can be identified and undertaken.
According to Time Magazine, 2005 was the year of "the Good Samaritan." From Bill Gates and Bono giving away millions to others hawking capitalism as Christianity - there is a wide range of perspectives on the spirituality of money. And then there's the everyday choices we make with our own checkbooks that reveal who we are.
